Intranet

The Intranet is usually mixed up with the internet, but they are completely different things. Intranet is an Information Repository and it used mostly for organizations to hold private information and used for communicating for all the employees/students in an organisation. It is helpful to organizations such as colleges, businesses and schools. It makes it easier to share information or important messages, for example in Southern Regional College; they hold all information and share all information to students and teachers by everybody signing up to Moodle. Everybody can see the information such as students have the ability to have their own account with their contact details, to show that they are learning at the college. Moodle has many different benefits and saves a lot of time for the organization to communicate and share information efficiently. Each student or teacher will have a there own log in and will be able to access the Intranet whenever or wherever they want as long as they have the log in details. The teachers will also be able to monitor their students productivity, the site holds all information that only people involved in the college will be able to see. It allows students and teachers to communicate safely, without strangers being able to access that personal information. E-ILP is where the students can sign in and check all there details and even set goals, hobbies, achievements and receive reports from teachers. They can also check there registers for every class and can see easily when they have been marked present, late or absent.  This allows the pupils to take teachers comments and reports and use them to increase their standard of work or punctuality, if the teacher has commented that punctuality has fallen, the student could then make sure that there always on time to class in future. Moodle also allows students to check and see when all assignments are due, so if they are not sure if they are behind on work or need to catch up they can simply check and plan out their time more efficiently so that they won’t fall behind on assignments.  

Customer Facing

Customer facing is a website that allows customers to purchase products online, it is useful because the customer can shop at home and not have to go anywhere, for example a customer facing website would be Next. They sell products online and also deliver the product that the customer has bought to their home in a short period of time. The website is very useful because it allows customer to browse through an online catalogue and choose from the whole shops selection, and order whatever clothing of your liking. Unfortunately the customer cannot try on the clothing on the online website; they have to judge the product by seeing a picture of it, or even a model wearing it. The online catalogue has many different headers and allows you to find the clothing that you are looking for fast and efficiently. The website also has customer service which will help customers if there are having any problems with their product or even if they are having trouble ordering a product.

Customer facing is very useful because it allows customers to shop online 24/7 and it never closes, other than there shop it closes every day at a certain time, customer facing saves time for the customer and they can take as long as they wish to look through thier online catalouge.
It makes money because a customer can buy at any time and because the overheads are low, the products sold on the website may be cheaper.
